Today's post will definitely be not only longer than my usual fashion or make-up posts here, but also (I hope) more informative and might help someone, who is considering taking part in Top Model of the World beauty pageant franchise.

Dzisiejszy post na pewno będzie nie tylko dłuższy niż moje zwykłe posty o modzie czy makijażu, ale także (mam nadzieję) bardziej informacyjny i może pomóc komuś, kto rozważa wzięcie udziału w franczyzie konkursów piękności Top Model of the World.

As some of you might have already seen on my Instagram ( http://instagram.com/alex_stylish_blonde ) or on my YouTube channel (here: https://youtu.be/aM71T6Z-jRQ?si=p6ncTuPZXjTy0HA3 ), this year I have taken part in this beauty pageant, and I was representing my beautiful country - Poland!

It was quite an important pageant to me, because not only it was its 30th anniversary this year, so quite a significant one, but also - from the previous years' materials - it seemed to be rather a big event, and always full of super beautiful candidates from all around the world. Therefore - going there I was really excited, and having had prepared myself for it both physically (healthy food and exercising every day) and mentally (trying to figure out what the questions at the interview part might be), I was still going to have fun and bring back some unforgettable memories. Especially because of the fact that a few months ago, it turned out that one of the girls that I got to know at the previous international beauty pageant (Miss Slovenia - Sylvia), is coming along, which made me very happy and I was sure we would have a lot of smiles and fun together in Egypt!

Był to dla mnie dość ważny konkurs, bo nie dość, że w tym roku obchodził 30-lecie jego istnienia, a więc dość znaczące, to jeszcze – z materiałów z poprzednich lat – sprawiał wrażenie dużego i zawsze pełnego super pięknych kandydatek z całego świata. Dlatego też – jadąc tam, byłam naprawdę podekscytowana i po przygotowaniu się na to zarówno fizycznie (zdrowe odżywianie i codzienna aktywność fizyczna), jak i psychicznie (próbując domyślić się, jakie mogą być pytania podczas tak zwanego "interview"), nadal miałam zamiar świetnie się bawić i przywieźć niezapomniane wspomnienia. Tym bardziej, że kilka miesięcy temu okazało się, że przyjedzie jedna z dziewczyn, które poznałam na poprzednim międzynarodowym konkursie piękności (Miss Słowenii – Sylwia), co mnie bardzo ucieszyło i byłam pewna, że przed nami mnóstwo uśmiechu i dobrej zabawy w Egipcie!

It is worth mentioning that I have never been to Egypt, therefore I was really looking forward to experiencing the local culture, and seeing pyramids live for the first time (yeah - that did not happen unfortunately, and I will write about that later on more in detail).

The arrival dates were set throughout a few days in mid-May: 10-12.05.2024, because of course the delegates were sent from all around the world to attend the contest and represent their countries. I arrived on 11th in the very evening, and I was greeted at the Hurghada airport by some acquaintance of the TMW team, and brought to the Aqua Joy Resort in Hurghada by car. Then I was given a room, and was assured that the second girl in that room will be my friend - Sylvia. So far, so good - so I went to sleep, and the next day was still full of the girls' arrivals, therefore (as it turned out later on) it was the only day to record some video materials, to enjoy some more sunbathing, and to walk around the resort. On that day also Sylvia joined, so at least I had some nice companion to wonder around with.

Warto nadmienić, że nigdy nie byłam w Egipcie, dlatego bardzo nie mogłam się doczekać poznania tamtejszej kultury i zobaczenia po raz pierwszy piramid na żywo (niestety tak się nie stało, o czym napiszę później bardziej szczegółowo).

Daty przyjazdu ustalono na kilka dni w połowie maja: 10-12.05.2024, bo oczywiście delegatki zostały wysłane z całego świata, aby wziąć udział w konkursie i reprezentować swoje kraje. Przyleciałam 11-go wieczorem, na lotnisku w Hurghadzie zostałam przywitana przez znajomego z ekipy TMW i zabrana samochodem do Aqua Joy Resort w Hurghadzie. Następnie przydzielono mi pokój i zapewniono mnie, że drugą dziewczyną w tym pokoju będzie moja przyjaciółka – Sylwia. Póki co było wszytsko dobrze - poszłam więc spać, a następny dzień był jeszcze pełen przyjazdów dziewczyn, zatem (jak się później okazało) był to jedyny dzień, w którym mogłam nagrać trochę materiałów wideo, móc się jeszcze trochę poopalać i uskutecznić spacer po ośrodku. Tego dnia dołączyła także Sylwia, więc przynajmniej miałam jakiegoś miłe towarzystwo, z którym mogłam się włóczyć.

The next day (on the first official day of the competition) we started to travel to different Sunrise resorts, starting from the Meraki Resort one, where the first photoshoots and videoshoots started to take place - we needed to have a video taken of our walk in white outfit that would have been later on edited and used as a background video for country presentation at the final gala of the show. Later on; we had an official meeting with the officials of TMW and Sunrise Resorts teams and were handed the sashes of our countries. Then there was a White Party, and after it finished (around midnight), we were transported back to Aqua Joy Resort.

Następnego dnia (pierwszego oficjalnego dnia konkursu) zaczęłyśmy podróżować po różnych kurortach Sunrise, zaczynając od Meraki Resort, gdzie rozpoczęły się pierwsze sesje zdjęciowe i wideo - potrzebowałyśmy nagrania wideo naszego spaceru w białym stroju, które zostało później zmontowane i wykorzystane jako wideo w tle do prezentacji kraju podczas gali finałowej programu na żywo. Później odbyło się oficjalne spotkanie z członkami zespołów TMW i Sunrise Resorts, i wręczono nam szarfy naszych krajów. Następnie odbyła się White Party, a po jej zakończeniu (około północy) przewieziono nas z powrotem do Aqua Joy Resort.

On Tuesday, a very early morning was awaiting us, getting up way before 7am, we needed to be packed with our outfits for the whole day and evening in another resort - this time called Mamlouk Palace. We were assigned 4-people rooms and each of us had various photoshoots or videoshoots with different camera crews, and that is how I ended up doing an advertisement videoshoot for one of the resort's restaurants along with other girls. After all that and lunch, having been already told our pyramids trip (that had previously been in the programme of the bootcamp) was cancelled, I decided that I really wanted then to at least try to ride on a camel, which was walking around that resort along with its caretaker. I came closer to the person, who was holding a string attached to the camel, and asked, whether I could have a picture taken sitting on a camel. The guy agreed and maybe seeing I was really careful and nice to the camel (Oscar was his name), he told me to sit on it, and then to ride it! That was one of the best highlights of that whole trip I must say! Later on; there was another theme party, this time - Disco/70s outfits. After the party (again around midnight), we were transported back to Aqua Joy hotel.

We wtorek czekał nas bardzo wczesny poranek, wstałyśmy grubo przed 7:00, musiałyśmy spakować się ze sprzętem (ubraniami, dodatkami, makijażem - nie było nikogo, by układać nam włosy, czy poprawiać make-up) na cały dzień i wieczór do innego ośrodka - tym razem Pałacu Mamlouk. Przydzielono nam pokoje 4-osobowe i każda z nas miała różne sesje zdjęciowe lub sesje wideo z inną ekipą filmową i tak oto skończyłam, robiąc wraz z innymi dziewczynami sesję reklamową dla jednej z restauracji resortu. Po tym wszystkim i obiedzie, słysząc już, że nasza wycieczka do piramid (która była wcześniej w programie bootcampu) została odwołana, zdecydowałem, że chcę tak to chociaż spróbować przejechać się na wielbłądzie, który spacerował po tej okolicy ośrodka wraz ze swoim opiekunem. Podeszłam więc bliżej do osoby trzymającej sznurek przywiązany do wielbłąda i zapytałam, czy mogłabym zrobić sobie zdjęcie, siedząc na wielbłądzie. Facet się zgodził i być może widząc, że jestem naprawdę ostrożna i miła dla tego wielbłąda (nazywał się Oskar), kazał mi na nim usiąść, a potem na nim pojeździć! Muszę powiedzieć, że to była jedna z najlepszych atrakcji całej tej podróży! Później; odbyła się kolejna impreza tematyczna, tym razem w stylu Disco/Lata 70te. Po imprezie (ponownie około północy) zostałyśmy przewiezione z powrotem do hotelu Aqua Joy.

Wednesday started as early as the previous days, because the next resort was awaiting us, and this time it was Tucana Resort, where the photoshoots, and videoshoots were planned plus at another resort - Royal Makadi - some runway walk training, organized by one of the assistants - Regina. Then we had a bit of time by the pool, and needed to prepare ourselves for another themed party - Greek Party this time. Again - we were assigned 4-people rooms to get dresses, and prepared for the evening. After the party, we were transported back to Aqua Joy resort.

Środa zaczęła się już tak jak poprzednie dni, bo czekał na nas kolejny resort, tym razem był to Tucana Resort, gdzie zaplanowano sesje zdjęciowe i wideo oraz w innym ośrodku – Royal Makadi – szkolenie z zakresu chodzenia po wybiegu, zorganizowane przez jedną z asystentek - Reginę. Następnie spędziłyśmy trochę czasu przy basenie i musiałyśmy przygotować się na kolejną imprezę tematyczną - tym razem Grecką. Znów - przydzielono nam pokoje 4-osobowe, żeby się ubrać i przygotować na wieczór. Po imprezie zostałyśmy przewiezione z powrotem do kurortu Aqua Joy.

On the next day (Thursday) we were again taken to a different place, but this time we had a very very nice dinner there with Egyptian cuisine (they even baked a lovely cake for us, which I am showing in the attached picture, but we had no chance to eat it), and we could wear whichever evening outfit we wanted (because the Vintage Theme was previously cancelled (which was a shame, because everyone has brought with them something for that specific party from their home countries), and Hip Hop Theme that was supposed to replace Vintage, also got cancelled, as none of us even had anything to wear resembling hip hop style). Then there was another party and around midnight again, we were taken back to Aqua Joy hotel.

Następnego dnia (czwartek) ponownie zabrano nas w inne miejsce, ale tym razem zjadłyśmy tam bardzo, bardzo smaczną kolację z kuchnią egipską (nawet upiekli dla nas pyszne ciasto, które pokazuję na załączonym zdjęciu, ale nie miałyśmy okazji go zjeść, bo nas przeniesiono gdzie indziej) i mogłyśmy założyć dowolny strój wieczorowy, jaki chciałyśmy (ponieważ Vintage Theme został wcześniej odwołany (a szkoda, bo każdy przyniósł ze sobą coś na tę konkretną imprezę ze swoich krajów), oraz Hip Hop Theme, który miał zastąpić Vintage, również został odwołany, bo nikt z nas nie miał nawet nic na sobie w stylu hip-hopowym). Potem była kolejna impreza i około północy ponownie zabrano nas do hotelu Aqua Joy.

Friday started as early as the previous days, and along with all our stuff for the whole day, and the evening - we were transported by coach to another resort - Alma Bay (where we were assigned 4-people rooms again) - in order to do more advertising videoshoots and photoshoots for the resorts, and to take part in the evening party, which was this time - a Coachella Theme party, and it took place on the beach after some resort show with different artists on stage. After the party - back again to Aqua Joy hotel, as the next day was an important one.

Piątek zaczął się tak, jak poprzednie dni i wraz ze wszystkimi naszymi rzeczami na cały dzień i wieczór - przewieziono nas autokarem do innego ośrodka - Alma Bay (gdzie ponownie przydzielono nam pokoje 4-osobowe) - aby zrobić więcej sesji reklamowych i zdjęciowych dla kurortów oraz wziąć udział w wieczornej imprezie, która tym razem była imprezą tematyczną Coachella, która odbyła się na plaży po występie w ośrodku z różnymi artystami na scenie. Po imprezie powrót do hotelu Aqua Joy, gdyż kolejny dzień był ważny.

Saturday was marked with the Interviews Day and the pre-eliminary swimsuit competition in the evening (or at least we thought so back then). The interviews have taken place in Alma Bay resort, and I decided to wear a classic red fitted knee-length dress for this occasion. I was asked how long I have been working in modelling industry, how many languages I can speak, and what would I change in the whole event if I had such possibility. All in all - I think it went rather well. Later on; we had a short rehearsal for the evening, in order to present ourselves in swimwear (that was given to us by the organisers) in front of the jury. Later on, we found out that we were not marked for this performance, because there was someone missing in the jury, and apparently it was too dark to see our bodies (as this presentation was supposed to be for fishing out Best Body contestant). This day ended even later than the previous ones, and there was not much time left to finish packing ourselves up completely, as the next morning we were heading to a completely different place - Ain Sokhna, and reaching it took us more than 6 hours by coach.

Sobota upłynęła pod znakiem Dnia Rozmów typu "interviews" i wieczornego przedeliminacyjnego konkursu kostiumów kąpielowych (przynajmniej wtedy tak nam się wydawało). Interviews odbyły się w kurorcie Alma Bay i zdecydowałam się na tę okazję założyć klasyczną czerwoną, dopasowaną sukienkę do kolan. Zapytano mnie, jak długo pracuję w branży modelek, w ilu językach mówię i co bym zmieniła w całym wydarzeniu, gdybym miała taką możliwość. Podsumowując – myślę, że poszło mi całkiem nieźle. Później; odbyłyśmy krótką próbę wyjścia w strojach bikini, aby zaprezentować się przed jury w strojach kąpielowych (podarowanych nam przez organizatorów). Później okazało się, że nie zostałyśmy ocenione podczas tego występu, bo kogoś w jury zabrakło i ponoć było za ciemno, żeby zobaczyć nasze ciała (bo ta prezentacja miała służyć wyłowieniu uczestniczki do tytułu Best Body). Ten dzień zakończył się jeszcze później niż poprzednie, a czasu na całkowite spakowanie nie pozostało już zbyt wiele, gdyż następnego ranka udałyśmy się w zupełnie inne miejsce – Ain Sokhna, a dotarcie tam zajęło nam ponad 6 godzin autokarem.

We arrived in Ain Sokhna (the resort was called Tanoak) on Sunday in the late afternoon, so we got assigned the rooms for the remaining 5 days (and this time it also was one room for 4 girls, which was not ideal, because one bathroom for 4 people when the schedule is tight, is usually already an issue), unpacked ourselves, and went to sleep.

Do Ain Sokhna (ośrodek nazywał się Tanoak) dotarłyśmy w niedzielę późnym popołudniem, więc przydzielono nam pokoje na pozostałe 5 dni (i tym razem był to również jeden pokój dla 4 dziewcząt, co nie było idealne, ponieważ jedna łazienka dla 4 osób, gdy harmonogram jest napięty, zwykle jest już problemem), rozpakowałyśmy się i poszłyśmy spać.

The next day (on Monday) we had more photoshoots (I had some pictures taken in an evening gown, and in a bikini), and in the evening there was another themed party, and this time it was an Arabian Night. We were transported by the open bus (without the windows basically) to the bar at the beach to attend the party, which finished very fast, because of the power cut, so we were taken back to the hotel.

Następnego dnia (w poniedziałek) odbyły się kolejne sesje zdjęciowe (miałam kilka zdjęć w sukni wieczorowej i w bikini), a wieczorem odbyła się kolejna impreza tematyczna, tym razem była to Noc Arabska. Zabrano nas otwartym autobusem (w zasadzie bez okien) do baru na plaży na imprezę, która zakończyła się bardzo szybko ze względu na przerwę w dostawie prądu, więc zabrano nas z powrotem do hotelu.

The following three days were both exciting, and exhausting, as these were the rehearsals days. The stage was being built for us still at the time of us trying to rehearse there, we were provided a room to change into different outfits, and even though it was 38 degrees outside, not all the girls had hats or sunglasses on, and some of them felt really bad afterwards and needed to be taken to the doctor (and pay for it). After that, most of the rehearsals were being organized in the conference room in the hotel instead of in the scorching sun at the open stage during daytime. The third day of the rehearsals - we were taken again to the stage by the open bus, along with our 3 outfits for the performance, and had a final rehearsal in the evening, basically for the judges.

Następne trzy dni były zarówno ekscytujące, jak i wyczerpujące, ponieważ były to dni prób. Scena była dla nas budowana jeszcze w czasie, gdy próbowałyśmy na niej ćwiczyć, udostępniono nam salę, w której mogłyśmy się przebrać i chociaż na zewnątrz było 38 stopni, nie wszystkie dziewczyny miały na sobie kapelusze lub okulary przeciwsłoneczne, a niektóre z nich poczuły się potem naprawdę źle i należało je zabrać do lekarza (i musiały za to osobno zapłacić). Od tego czasu większość prób odbywała się w sali konferencyjnej hotelu, a nie w palącym słońcu na otwartej scenie w ciągu dnia. Trzeci dzień prób - ponownie zabrano nas na scenę otwartym autobusem wraz z naszymi 3 strojami do występu, a wieczorem odbyła się próba generalna, w zasadzie dla sędziów, powiedziano nam bowiem, że to wtedy jury podejmie decyzję, a następnego dnia gala będzie w sumie tylko dla gości i na YouTube.

On Friday, which was a day of the final gala in the evening, we had another rehearsal in the conference room, then everyone took their outfits for the evening, we were transported again to the stage location by the same bus (the hair got ruined by the wind on the way) and have discovered that we were sharing a small tent along with the dancers that were there to perform on our final event. It was a really bad idea not only because of the fact that we legitimately had no place to change into different outfits, almost no mirrors to fix our hair and make-ups (maybe 5 mirrors for almost 40 girls?), but also there were male dancers among the dancers team! And we needed to change from the white dress to the black bikini, and then to the evening gown. They decided to divide the tent into two parts, but it was still a nightmare to change (especially into the bikini set), and not to feel uncomfortable around unknown male dancers. 

Despite all these issues, the show went on, we did the choreography that was prepared for us by Tatjana, all 3 walks went rather well, and at the end - I was awarded a title! Sunrise Resorts have decided to give me Miss Popularity title, which was a very pleasant surprise, and I was so shocked that at first I thought it was a mistake. Luckily; it was no mistake, and I got my special sash back at home, and the voucher for 7 nights at any Sunrise Resort to use by the end of this year!

W piątek, który był dniem gali finałowej wieczorem, odbyłyśmy kolejną próbę w sali konferencyjnej, po czym wszyscy przebrali się na wieczór, ponownie zabrano nas na scenę tym samym autobusem (zniszczone i rozwiane fryzury przez wiatr po drodze) i odkryłyśmy, że dzieliłyśmy mały namiot do przebierania się wraz z tancerzami, którzy wystąpili podczas naszego show. To był naprawdę zły pomysł nie tylko dlatego, że tak naprawdę nie miałyśmy gdzie się przebrać, prawie nie było lusterek, żeby poprawić fryzurę i makijaż (może 5 lusterek na prawie 40 dziewczyn?), ale też w grupie tanecznej byli tancerze płci męskiej! I trzeba było zmienić białą sukienkę na czarne bikini, a potem na suknię wieczorową. Postanowili podzielić namiot na dwie części, ale nadal koszmarem było przebieranie się (zwłaszcza w kostium bikini) i brak poczucia komfortu w obecności nieznanych tancerzy.

Mimo tych wszystkich problemów spektakl trwał dalej, wykonałyśmy choreografię, którą przygotowała dla nas Tatjana, wszystkie 3 wyjścia poszły w miarę dobrze, a na koniec - zostałam nagrodzona tytułem i szarfą! Sunrise Resorts zdecydowało się przyznać mi tytuł Miss Popularności, co było bardzo miłym zaskoczeniem, a ja byłam w takim szoku, że w pierwszej chwili pomyślałam, że to pomyłka. Na szczęście; to nie była pomyłka, dostałam na scenie swoją specjalną szarfę i voucher na 7 noclegów w dowolnym Sunrise Resort do wykorzystania do końca tego roku!

The next day - we were transported back by coach along with all our luggage to Hurghada, to the Aqua Joy resort, and I was one of the first people to leave the resort (I had a plane back home the same day in the evening).

Następnego dnia - autokarem przewieziono nas z powrotem z całym bagażem do Hurghady, do kurortu Aqua Joy, a ja jako jedna z pierwszych opuściłam ośrodek (tego samego dnia wieczorem wieczorem miałam samolot do domu).

All in all - it was a very intense, crazy time, the schedule was insanely packed, and I was not a fan of last minute plans changes (especially the cancellation of pyramids trip without giving any explanation), but the resorts were taking care of us eating 3 meals a day, providing us with a room to prepare ourselves for the events and parties, and enjoying beautiful weather as much as it was possible.

I hope that this post might be useful to some people, and will also show more or less, how this particular pageant looks like from the perspective of a contestant.

Podsumowując – był to bardzo intensywny, szalony czas, harmonogram był szalenie napięty, a ja nie byłam zwolennikiem zmian w planach na ostatnią chwilę (zwłaszcza rezygnacji z wycieczki do piramid bez żadnych wyjaśnień), ale kurorty się nami dobrze zajmowały - jadłyśmy 3 posiłki dziennie, zapewniali nam pomieszczenie do przygotowania się do wydarzeń i przyjęć oraz starali się nam pozwalać cieszyć się piękną pogodą tak bardzo, jak to było możliwe.

Mam nadzieję, że niektórym osobom ten post się przyda, a także mniej więcej pokaże, jak dany konkurs wygląda z perspektywy uczestniczki.
